The Jeep Inventory of Vehicles - the Outdoor Enthusiast's Dream

Jeep is a name synonymous with outdoor adventure. Most people associate the name Jeep with the prolific Jeep Wrangler - a vehicle that is known for letting the top down and for its versatility. However, several other Jeep vehicles are just as versatile as the Wrangler, although they are distinctive on their own. Champion of Decatur in Decatur, AL has new Jeep models in stock and a team of professionals ready to assist you today.

All Jeeps are known as Sports Utility Vehicles. They include the following:

  • the Jeep Wrangler
  • the Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • the Jeep Cherokee
  • the Jeep Compass
  • the Renegade
  • the Jeep Gladiator

Which Jeep is right for you? Let's look a little more in-depth at the individual vehicles to help make the right decision.

The Jeep Wrangler

The Wrangler is the most recognizable Jeep product. Whether you choose a hard or cloth top, you can remove the top and often the doors to enhance your off-roading experience. Most Jeeps have two rows of seating, but cargo room inside the Wrangler is limited. However, you can tow up to 3,000 pounds behind the Wrangler (that means the new Jeep Wrangler can easily pull the average fishing boat).

The Wrangler is known for its capability. The Jeep Wrangler comes standard as a four-wheel drive, meaning it can go virtually anywhere. Often, this is the reason Jeep enthusiasts choose the Wrangler.

The Wrangler is also an excellent choice for the city dweller. Some enjoy the distinctive look of the Wrangler. Some simply like to take the top down and ride with the wind in their hair. The Jeep Wrangler also provides excellent fuel efficiency. Whether you like the outdoors or you simply want the wind to whistle through your Jeep as you traverse the concrete jungle, you'll have numerous reasons to enjoy the Wrangler.

The Jeep Cherokee

The Jeep Cherokee is an SUV that offers off-road capability with the feel of driving a minivan. The Cherokee also offers cargo room that the Wrangler does not. There are seven variations of the Jeep Cherokee. They are as follows:

  • the Latitude, or base trim
  • the Latitude Plus
  • the Altitude
  • the Upland
  • the Limited
  • the Trailhawk, an off-roader's favorite
  • the Trailhawk Elite

The Jeep Cherokee comes standard with a 2.4L inline-four-cylinder engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine provides 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque (or towing power). You'll have access to a UConnect multimedia system, a rear back-up camera, and certain off-road amenities such as hill start assist, trailer sway damping and electronic roll mitigation.

The Trailhawk is often hailed as an outdoors enthusiast's favorite trim. You'll get all the standard features mentioned as well as a standard 4x4 powertrain. This Cherokee sits a little higher than other trims for better off-roading.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee is a larger version of the Cherokee, and it is more luxurious than the Cherokee. It adds more cargo room, and, although it is off-road capable, it is suited more for the family. You can still tow up to 7,200 pounds with the Grand Cherokee. It is also standard as a four-wheel drive, making it able to traverse adverse road conditions. However, the Grand Cherokee is typically more of a family vehicle, even though it is quite capable.

The Jeep Compass and the Jeep Renegade

These two compact Sports Utility Vehicles are great first-time buyer choices. Both SUVs seat up to five adults comfortably can tow less than 2,000 pounds, and they offer a modicum of cargo room.

The Jeep Gladiator

The Jeep Gladiator is part Jeep Wrangler, part truck. That's right, you can not only haul that cargo, but the Gladiator allows you to go off-road as if there was no truck bed. Many enjoy this vehicle's adaptability and capability.
