Dodge vs. Jeep

Dodge has streamlined their selection of models, so now the compact Dodge Hornet and midsize Dodge Durango are the last remaining SUVs in the Dodge lineup. Huntsville, AL drivers can choose from six Jeep SUV models, ranging from the compact Jeep Compass to the full-size Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Dodge is known for making sporty, high-performance vehicles while Jeep has made its name building off-road capable SUVs and trucks.

Dodge Hornet vs. Jeep Compass

The new Dodge Hornet is the latest Dodge SUV model, replacing the Dodge Journey. This compact SUV has deft handling and a cushioned ride. People in Madison, AL will like the Hornet R/T's plug-in hybrid powertrain, which not only provides 33 miles of electric-only range on a full charge, but also enables the SUV to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds.

The new Jeep Compass is about 5 inches shorter than the Dodge Hornet, so it's slightly easier to maneuver in tight spaces. Its taut suspension delivers a firmer ride than the Hornet. However, unlike the Hornet, the Compass doesn't offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Decatur, AL drivers who enjoy going off the beaten path will prefer the Jeep Compass, which comes standard with 8.1 inches of ground clearance and four-wheel drive. Trailhawk trims have 8.6 inches of clearance, hill descent control, and a Rock drive mode for easier off-road excursions. The new Dodge Hornet has 8.0 inches of ground clearance. All-wheel drive is standard, but the Hornet doesn't offer a Rock drive mode.

Dodge Durango vs. Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The new Dodge Durango is a midsize SUV with muscular engines and a spacious cabin. People in Athens, AL who frequently tow boats or campers behind their SUVs will appreciate that the Durango can tow up to 8,700 pounds when properly equipped. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee also has brawny engines, but it's only rated to tow up to 7,200 pounds.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee L has a spacious, luxurious interior with seating for up to seven passengers. Huntsville, AL drivers can stow all their camping equipment in the Grand Cherokee L's 84.6 cubic-foot cargo hold. The new Dodge Durango also offers seating for seven, but it has 85.1 cubic feet of cargo space with all its rear seats folded down. The Durango has a handsome cabin, but it's not as refined as the Grand Cherokee L's interior.
